Music Ministry
Mixed Choir
Kathleen and Richard Rose began their Music Ministry at LCHS on Christmas Eve of 1996. With Kathleen as pianist/organist and Richard as the conductor of the Choir and Instrumental Ensemble, these two groups remain at the core of the music ministry as it has evolved. Following Richard’s passing in August of 2020, Mike Govert began working with Kathleen to direct the groups.
The Mixed Choir consists of adults who just love to sing– that is the only requirement. The group rehearses Wednesdays @ 7:15pm and sings during Sunday worship approximately three Sundays per month from September to June. The Choir also sings for special events like our Living Nativity.
If you’re interested in singing with us, contact Mike Govert or Kathleen Rose through the church at secretary@holyspiritegv.org
Instrumental Ensemble
The Instrumental Ensemble consists of brass, woodwinds, strings, and occasionally percussionists. These volunteers consist of a variety of musicians at every level of training. There are opportunities for young and old alike, from junior high, high school, and college students to adults who’ve played their entire lives and those that “used to play” and want to try again!
The Ensemble plays for all Festival Services with rehearsals taking place an hour before worship. At times, some members also add to special incidental music solos or smaller ensembles to enhance our regular Sunday morning worship services or accompany the choir.
If you’re interested in joining the Instrumental Ensemble, contact Mike Govert or Kathleen Rose through the church at secretary@holyspiritegv.org
Handbells
The LCHS Handbell Choir consists of volunteers from the congregation and rehearses September – May on Sundays @ 11:30am following Education Hour. No musical experience is necessary to participate.
The group contributes to Sunday worship music several times throughout the year. If you’re interested in joining the Handbell Choir, Mike Govert through the church at secretary@holyspiritegv.org
